We present an annual conference in Toronto for Production Managers, Technicians, and Producers to meet, learn and exchange ideas. Instructors for the conference are chosen because they are working professionals with successful careers in the industry. Courses cover a wide range of topics, such as:
- Health & Safety
- Human Resources
- Managing People
These sessions target production managers at many skill/experience levels. All participants benefit from exceptional networking opportunities within the professional community.
In 2017, PMArts initiated a discussion forum for members of the performing arts community to unpack issues and questions. Our first discussion series Turning down the Pink Noise helped clarify the roles of SOCAN and Re:Sound in Canadian Theatre production This moderated session laid out the history and reasons behind music royalties in Canada, and provided participants with a step-by-step way to understand and deal with overlapping jurisdictions.
In 2019, PMArts collaborated with its sister organization, SMArts and TDArts to host WORK/LIFE Balance: The myth and the reality. This session brought together production managers, stage managers and technical directors to discuss concrete solutions and strategies that work on both a global stage or in our personal lives to balance these two bickering lovers.
