Dates for the 2020 Toronto PMArts Conference are Thursday, March 26 – Sunday, March 29, 2020 at Ryerson School of Performance

Welcome to the 13th Toronto PMArts Conference!

As our Conference enters its teenage years, growth and change are front and centre. The most exciting development to announce is our “cross-over” day of programming with TDArts, now entering its second year, happening at Ryerson right after ours wraps up.

On Sunday, March 29, Respectful Workplaces in the morning and Managing People in the Performing Arts in the afternoon will be of interest to both PMs and TDs, and we hope the cross-pollination of the two sets of attendees will lead to spirited discussions and camaraderie.

Further, the Closing Party for PMArts will also act as a Kick-Off party for TDArts – an event not to miss.

Another big change is the addition of a new Managing People session, designed by Human Resources expert Jeanne LeSage of LeSage Arts Management. This new course will rotate periodically with the original Managing People, offered since Year One.

Also, Rick Banville returns to host his Scheduling course, this year opening the Conference, on Thursday Night, and our BaAM session moves out of its historical Saturday morning slot to run on Friday afternoon.

A big welcome goes out to another new Instructor, Simon Marsden, Director of Production at the Stratford Festival. He will premiere on Saturday night with Never Say Never…or No, a session devoted to supporting the show and the business without being negative.

As we strive to provide new and varied content (and to encourage past attendees to return to the Conference), there will be some courses and Instructors who will appear on a rotating cycle. With this mind, we wish to send a special thank you to Matt Farrell, who will have his first year off in 12 years. A career-long supporter of PMArts, Matt first taught Health and Safety in Year 2, then moved to Budgeting, and, most recently led us through Union negotiations.

We continue to offer our three full days of programming and look forward to reuniting our team of seasoned and returning presenters, including Janet Sellery, Ray Salverda, Gail Packwood, and Eleanor Antoncic.

Finally, a big thank you to our sponsors, CITT, PACT and Ryerson School of Performance, who have been with us since the beginning.
